Prague: 15 Things, Part 2

“See a David Cerny sculpture and give your opinion of it”

This is a fairly recent sculpture which David Cerny created in response to the Czech general elections which could give the Communist Party some power within the government. Cerny created this giant ‘middle-finger’ gesture to show his opposition to the previously oppressive political party.

I personally support the gesture which Cerny is trying to make and think that he has helped highlight an important issue within Czech society. I also think that the sculpture is placed well as it stands against a backdrop of traditional, old Czech buildings and lush, green space on both banks of the river. Its striking, contemporary appearance means that it is pretty hard to miss if you approach this section of the river from any direction.
